| Katie's cottage |
Welcome to Katie's cottage!Katie's cottage was built in the early 1900's. It has been completely renovated to a very high standard without loosing its original features like the exposed stone walls on the gable ends and the solid ash woodwork. Katie's cottage is located in an elevated position overlooking the glen of Glendale, in the small hamlet of Holmisdale on the Isle of Skye. There are spectacular views towards the mighty MacLeod's Tables and the Hamara river running through the glenn. Bird watchers can spot Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles and a host of other birds. Close by is Neist Point where Minke whales regularly show up. Inside you will find an open plan living area with satellite TV, DVD and a wood burning stove. On your right there's an open kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a range cooker, a dishwasher and a fridge/freezer. In the back extension there's a spacious bathroom with shower, wash basin and toilet. The property is heated by means of underfloor heating. A beautiful handmade solid ash staircase gives access to two bedrooms upstairs. You can check the accommodation in full detail here. Outside you will find a spacious, fully fenced garden with secluded spots to enjoy the views over the glen. There's ample off road parking space.
The cottage is a paradise for bird watchers: golden eagles, buzzards and even sea eagles are among the regular visitors to the glen. Most of them can be seen from the garden. And if you're into a hike, just follow the river upwards to the MacLeod's Tables to spot the golden eagles more up close. If you're an early riser you will probably spot some deer as well. In the direct vicinity of the cottage you will find shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs. Close by is the Three Chimneys restaurant, one of Scotland's finest dining experiences serving delicious local produce. Out and about you will find a wide array of local beauty spots. To name just a few: Neist Point, Orbost estate, Dunvegan with oldest still inhabited castle of the clan MacLeod, the Coral beaches. If you're into fishing you can buy a license in the local shop and enjoy a day of trout fishing in the Hamara river. Katie's cottage is a dog-friendly holiday cottage. You can bring along up to two well behaved dogs on your holiday. The immediate surroundings of the cottage offer great walks for you and your dog. During the season (Easter until end of October), Katie's cottage is available on a weekly basis. Between October and Easter short-breaks and mid-weeks are also available with a minimum stay of 3 nights. Please contact us with your requirements.
